So far behind!!

Hi parents and fellow bloggers!!

Our computer at home has been out of commission and I detest posting from my phone, so I've been MIA lately :(. However, the computer is still down and I'm giving in and making a phone post.  We have learned so much the past weeks, about bats, pumpkins, turkeys, and Pilgrims!!  We have been working hard to improve our reading and writing and many of us have begun to read, and write, simple sentences!!  Here are some snapshots if the past weeks :)

Sharing our first stories from Writer's Workshop!!

Sorting our jack-o-lanterns!!

Nonstandard weight measurement of pumpkins.

Identifying beginning sounds at centers.

Write the room with sight words.

Addition with spider rings.

Creepy counting!

+1 turkey addition.

Counting up using a double die.

Turkey race with beginning sounds.

Color words!!

Write the room with sight words.

Count the room during centers.

One-to-one correspondence with turkeys and "stuffing"

Turkey and fox greater than, less than :)

We had a great time sharing our disguised turkeys!!

We were so surprised to learn how different the lives of the Pilgrims were from our own!!

Phew!!  OK, all caught up and the computer SHOULD be fixed soon :). Look for another post after Thanksgiving!!

Finishing our farm unit by learning about cows! (And a freebie!!)

Last week we finished our farm unit by focusing our learning on cows, we had a great time!  We also worked really hard on our farm themed centers!

Our farm themed writing center.  This child was working on writing labels and will add a picture next!

Practicing 10 frames (we were rolling large foam dice to decide how many to color)

Working on 1-to-1 correspondence and also our fine motor skills!!  We were using a large tweezer to move the cotton balls onto the sheep :)

Teachers- these centers (and more!!) are available in my Fun on the Farm packet on TPT!

We began using this board to help keep track of the strategies we are working on, right now we are all using our "Eagles Eyes" to look at the picture to help figure out words we don't know!  (LOVE this packet from Deanna Jump)
This game was called MOO!  We were practicing quickly recalling our teen numbers by being the first to swat the cow that had the number we were looking for.

We watched a great video about milking cows this week and also turned a rubber glove filled with milk into an udder!!  Then we wrote these "How To" books explaining how to milk a cow.

We had a great time collecting leaves and making these rubbings in art!!

This was the video we watched, so interesting!!

And finally, as promised, for my teacher friends here is a Freebie from my Pretty Pumpkin Math and Literacy Centers. The entire packet is just $4.00 on TPT!!!

More Farm Fun!

Hello!

We had another short week last week but still managed to squeeze in some time to work on some farm activities and had a great time working on our centers!!  We will be spending one more week on farms, learning about cows, before turning our learning to bats!!

Some of our centers from this week:
Computer Center working on Starfall.com

"Hatching" dice from eggs to practice one-to-one correspondence and subitizing.

Reading at the poetry center (more one-to-one)

Writing about farms!!

Working on letter recognition and formation at the overheard center :)  (This one is a favorite, thanks Deedee Wills!)

We made these pig glyphs in math this week.  They helped us work on our fine motor skills, directions following, and analyzing data!! (Here is the link for this cutie from a fantastic TPT seller!)

We created these farms, along with a short writing piece to show what we had learned about farm animals.

We worked on identifying short vowel sounds with this game during small groups this week.

We read the book the midnight farm and then created our own farm to practice one-to-one correspondence and number writing!!

We have one more week of farms, lots more fun to have!  :) Mrs. Rogers
