Fractions, recycling, and being green

Hi parents!
We've been working hard with fractions and have practiced with halves and quarters!!

Fraction pizzas were so much fun!

We also did an experiment to learn about how tires are recycled.
(Crushing our "tires")

Some more Earth Day fun:

We edited our fiction stories last week and started a poetry unit!!

(Editing her story)

I love how they are already trying to use some of the ideas from our poetry anchor chart, so cute!!

Measuring frog jumps

Making 10 memory

Adding leprechaun gold

Trying to figure out the secret code sight words

We worked on cause and effect with an Easter story and will go back to this chart next week for more practice

How does the water get into the leaves? Experiment

Pollination experiment (they loved this!!)
Roll a CVC word

Looking for hidden sight words

Making words with blends

In math we have spent time the past few weeks playing games help us practice place value, subtract, and add.  Today we started talking about fractions!

Last, in reading we are learning a different way to explain our decoding strategies:

More fractions and recycling next week (plus a super cool recycling experiment tomorrow)!!
